KUKA is one of the world’s leading suppliers of robotics as well plant manufacturing and system technology and a pioneer in Industrie 4.0. The corporate history of KUKA begins in 1898 with Johann Joseph Keller and Jakob Knappich in Augsburg. For more than 100 years, KUKA has stood for ideas and innovations that have made us successful worldwide.
KUKA engaged us to handle the UI and UX of their new customer portal and marketplace. KUKA had significant requirements around multiple user types, multi-language, and a product list of over 15,000 spare parts. Lion’s Share was tasked to create wireframes and designs for over 150 screens which resulted in a functional prototype that their development team could use to ensure a quality customer experience.
Lion’s Share worked with KUKA for over 2.5 years on 3 versions of their user portal and marketplace. Customers from around the world were able to order software, spare parts, and trainings and the KUKA sales team was able to manage the products, customers, and delivery via Salesforce.

my.KUKA is a new, state-of-the-art portal that enables users to interact with KUKA in a meaningful and individual way. It is a dashboard with tailormade updates, news and documentation about the user’s KUKA products.
Task
Create a portal where each of KUKA’s applications, licenses and other features could co-exist in the same place. Create a registration and verification process. As well as UI Kits for alerts, toast, tooltips and others.
Results
A clean and easy to navegate portal with sections for each of my.kuka’s features such as app launcher, fuctionalities, news and FAQ. As well as a easy to follow registration and verification process.
Programs Used
Alert banners were created to communicate the status of the user registration and verification process. It persists over a session and appears without the user initiating the action.
This process had to be implemented with Salesforce Lightning (LEX) components so we had to keep that in mind creating this pages.
We divided the process in 3 stages, this component importantly changed role depending on what state the user was in. As it navigated the Path Stages, its associated content changed with it.
When activated, tooltips display a text label identifying an element, such as a description of its function.
Task
Create an ecommerce website for KUKA products. Where the user could explore hardware such as KUKA spare parts or software such as KUKA Xpert. Including availability, bundles and price information.
Results
Marketplace offers a breathtakingly intuitive shopping experience that sets industry standards in terms of simplicity, security and speed.

This process had to be implemented with Salesforce Lightning (LEX) components so we had to keep that in mind creating these pages.
A progress indicator component was used to communicate the progress of the checkout process to the user
Toast serves as a feedback & confirmation mechanism after the user takes an action.
